Curtis Banta
President
Curtis has been a member of the Yonkman team since 1999, and has been in the construction industry since 1997. Curtis is a Whidbey Island native. He grew up with a fondness for building and put that to use as he began to work on the Yonkman team. Starting as a general laborer, Curtis’ passion for building led him to work from that laborer position all the way up to Yonkman Construction’s General Manager. In 2021, the opportunity arose to purchase Yonkman Construction, and it seemed like the next natural step for Curtis. His favorite part of the job is leading the team in continuing the tradition of building high quality custom homes.
Inspired to showcase the skills, knowledge and services truly needed to build a better home, Curtis attained the Certified Builder designation from the Building Industry Association of Washington. Additionally, Curtis has earned his Certified Graduate Builder designation (CGB) from the National Association of Home Builders, he is a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL), trained in erosion control measures, he is also certified in First Aid and CPR.
Curtis is involved with the local Skagit/Island Counties Builders Association (SICBA) He was named the 2017 SICBA Builder of the Year, and 2017 SICBA Chairperson of the Year. In May of 2022 he was named SICBA Builder of the Year for a second time. He currently serves as an executive board member, and serves as the Chair for the Home Tour Committee.
Scott Yonkman
Project Development
Scott founded Yonkman Construction, Inc. in Oak Harbor, Washington in 1979. Prior to founding the company, he had 5 years of experience in the construction industry. Scott has lived on Whidbey Island for over 50 years.
Scott works cooperatively with customers to understand their project goals, and then facilitates the development of job drawings, specifications, estimates, and contracts.
Scott is a Certified Built Green Builder and a Certified Aging-in-place Specialist. He was the 2008 SICBA President and is a former SICBA Board Member. Scott has served as an Island County Planning Commissioner, a BIAW State Director, and a NAHB National Director.
Scott likes the people and the team developed here at Yonkman. Yonkman’s culture is centered on creativity and integrity both in business practices, building, and customer care processes. Yonkman Construction desires to be cutting edge – not to boast, but to serve.
Greg Yonkman
Estimator
Greg has lived on Whidbey Island, and worked for Yonkman Construction for over 40 years, starting in the business just a year after his brother Scott started the company. He has nearly 50 years of experience building homes. He has worked as a lead carpenter, designer, and project manager with Yonkman Construction.
Greg is now semi-retired, but still enjoys working for the company part-time as an estimator.
Jay Londo
Senior Project Manager
Since 1988, Jay has been building residential and commercial properties in Washington State. Born and raised in the Puget Sound area, he spent much of his childhood on job sites, tagging along with his father, a local general contractor. Growing up in the industry, Jay started as a laborer and worked his way up to Job Superintendent. Over the course of eleven years he constructed more than 400 spec homes on Seattle’s Eastside. In addition, he spent time focusing on commercial construction and was responsible for projects with local restaurants and department stores. In 2016, Jay relocated to Whidbey Island and joined the team at Yonkman Construction. We value his extensive background and experience in the industry. He has enjoyed the opportunity to return to his passion of building custom homes and remodeling. In 2018, Jay and his wife, Erin, completed a custom home of their own in Oak Harbor.
David Hicks
Project Manager
Dave was born in Colorado, moved to North Carolina at an early age, and eventually found his way back to Colorado. He lived in Leadville, where he met and married his wife, Tami. He enlisted in the Navy and served at NAS Whidbey Island. After his discharge, they returned to Leadville where they raised 3 boys. Dave has worked in the construction industry for nearly 30 years, the majority of it being in Colorado. Starting out as a laborer, he worked his way up through multiple trades to project manager. He has experience as a mason, heavy equipment operator, construction estimator, and project manager. In 2020, Dave returned to Whidbey Island after joining the Yonkman Construction team to continue in the trade he enjoys in the place he loves.
Brian Minker
Project Manager
Brian Minker has been in the construction field for over 25 years. Coming up and cross training himself through various trades throughout the years, Brian has developed a keen eye for detail. Brian’s professional carrier hails from Southern California where he was a project manager for custom home builders. He worked on some of the most premier homes on the coast of Orange County CA, where several of the homes have been featured in magazines. Brian moved to Whidbey Island in 2018 with the dream to build his own custom timber framed home. Brian came to work for Yonkman Construction to further his passion for building custom homes for clients.
Vaughn Foura
Accountant
Vaughn grew up in the residential construction industry. His experience runs from working in the field to becoming president of a $35 million dollar home building company. He earned his Business Administration degree in Real Estate at Clarion University and further refined is knowledge in accounting at Shenandoah University. He has worked in nearly every position ----from laborer, customer service rep, salesperson, estimator, accounting manager, controller, V.P. of Accounting, and eventually President of Oakcrest Builders, Inc. for 12 years. He has been a past board member and Treasurer of his local Habitat for Humanity, a member of his local Economic Development Commission, Past President of the Top of Virginia Building Assoc., and Past President of his Builder 20 Club of NAHB in 2006. Today he is proud to work for an outstanding custom building company as a Senior Accountant where he can use his experience and foster new relationships to strengthen Yonkman’s reputation and values.
J.J. Camacho
Project Production Manager/Estimator
J.J. began as a laborer in the construction industry out of high school, but upon graduating with a business administration degree embarked on a career in marketing and procurement. Looking to break back into the construction industry as a Project Manager or similar capacity, J.J. completed a degree in Project Management from Colorado State University in early 2022. In August 2022 he joined the Yonkman Team after fulfilling an internship as the final aspect of his retraining plan.
Krystle Camacho
Office Manager
Krystle, a Michigan native, began working for Yonkman Construction in January of 2022. She has over 10 years of office experience which makes her a perfect fit for assisting our clients. Her many responsibilities keep our front office running smoothly. When away from her desk, Krystle enjoys spending time with her husband & 3 daughters, kayaking, reading, and exploring the PNW as often as she can.
Chris Ceci
Lead Carpenter
Chris is a lifelong resident of Whidbey Island. He has over 40 years of experience as a carpenter and has been with Yonkman Construction since 1990. His impeccable attention to detail and love for woodworking brings a sense of pride to his trade. When Chris is not working he enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
David Hummel
Laborer
Dave is a US Navy retired veteran who has lived on Whidbey Island since 2007. After his years of service he developed a love for wood working. This makes him a perfect fit for Yonkman Construction. When Dave is not working he spends a large majority of time doing home improvement projects with his loving wife, hand carving patriot flags, and watching his 4 boys play football, soccer, and baseball.
